Generally, the best age to visit and orthodontist is around
8 or 9, or sooner if a problem is noticed. The reason for this
is that orthodontic problems are much easier to correct when
treatment is started at an early stage, and will definitely
reduce the amount of time needed for the treatment.
Orthodontics can benefit anyone at any age, however at a
younger age, any orthodontic treatment will ensure that your
children are treated before further dental complications may
develop.
With children’s teeth the types of braces which are
used are generally metal or clear, with wires running through
them. This creates the pressure which is needed in order to
move the teeth. As this is a very gentle and steady pressure,
the other main ingredient needed for a successful result is
time!
During regular check-ups with Peter Grant, the wires on the
braces are adjusted, to maintain the pressure as the treatment
progresses. It is very exciting for children to see the positive
changes to their own smile!
